• To shape a nail, take the wide end of an emery board and file in one direction only. From the outer corner to the centre, never backwards and forwards.
• To shorten a nail takes the board’s coarse side and finish with the finer side.
• If you do not like the look of nail polish, buff your nails to get a healthy glow. It increases blood flow, which leads to healthier nails over time. Weekly buffing is enough.
• To make polish last always apply a base and topcoat.
• If you smudge your newly painted nails simply take a narrow make-up brush, dab it in nail polish remover and draw over the mistake to remove it. Reapply colour and top coat.
• If you chip the polish once it has dried, dip your finger (from the opposite hand) into nail polish remover and rub over the edges of the chip to emulsify the nail polish and remove any edges and flatten out the colour. Once dry, paint in the chip with polish and a top coat for extra protection.
